An Important Meeting on Special Education Chaired by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif

Under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, an important meeting was held on 09-10-2025 regarding special education. For the first time in Punjab’s history, a new record has been set with the enrolment of over 5,000 special children in the shortest possible time. The Chief Minister praised Special Assistant Ms. Sania Ashiq and her entire team for their remarkable performance.
A clear decision was made by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif that underprivileged children will receive completely free therapy and education at the Maryam Nawaz Autism School. On CM directions, the government has decided to engage leading autism experts from around the world. It was also decided, in principle to include special children in the Himmat Card Program. Additionally, the approval for 48 new buses for special education centres was granted.
The Chief Minister also approved new uniforms and designs for the students, teachers, and staff of the Autism School. A 13-member Board of Governors has been established, along with the approval of a three-year strategic plan for the Autism Resource Centre. Special Assistant Sania Ashiq presented a detailed briefing during the meeting.
